WindowsXP Home PIII
I have noticed that my system restore does not "remember" checkpoints older
than 3 days,or at least I can not see them on the system restore calendar.
In other words I can not restore my system to a previous checkpoint let's
say one month ago.
Any ideas please!!!
Thanks

Uhmmmmm, ok I think your problem is that it deletes the
auto check points after 3 days ago. What you should've
done is made a checkpoint yourself along time ago.

Hi

Restoring your system to a month ago could cause problems. Right click on My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab. Click on the appropriate drive and then 'Settings...'. You can tell how much disk space has been allocated to System Restore in there - default is 12% of the total disk/partition size. If this allocated space is 'reasonably' small, and you install/uninstall a lot of programs, then SR may very well be deleting the Points after 3 days. You can change the amount of disk space allocated by using the slider - remembering that SR needs at least 200 MBs free disk space to work properly. Without this amount free, SR will automatically disable itself without any warning.

Hi,
The command-line parameter is case sensitive: Try this:

1. Insert the Windows XP CD
2. Click [Start] [Run]
3. Type the following command and press Enter
"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"
[Case Sensitive]

System Restore core files should be reinstalled.

Alternately, you may also open Windows Explorer, navigate to
"C:\Windows\Inf" folder and right-click sr.inf (choose Install) (sr.inf
shows up as sr in windows explorer)
