This can get complicated with dealing with the assignment of the USB's IRQ's
and IRQ timing.
Be sure that your flash drive is not defective. Make sure that the proper
driver is loaded.
First make sure that the driver is the proper type and version. Also try the
flash drive on other USB ports in case there is an IRQ conflict problem when
it sees the flash drive.
If you cannot make it work, then try it through an active USB hub. The hub
can act as a buffer, and thus change the address timing a little bit. The
USB hub must be an active one, not a passive one for this. The active one,
comes with an AC power supply.
If it still does not work with the hub, then try the hub in to different USB
ports, while having the flash drive connected.
The next step, if your USB ports are on cards, uninstall one of them, and
then swap the physical position of the USB card with another card. This may
force the machine to assign new IRQ's for the USB ports.
If your USB ports are on the mother board, then simply uninstall them, and
then swap around the positions of a few other cards in the computer, if this
is feasible.
The idea here is to try to force Windows to change the IRQ assignments.
If this does not work and the hub attempt did not work, get an additional
USB card for the computer, and see if this will work with the flash drive.
Now try it again.
If all of this does not work, you will definitely have to call the tech
support for your flash card, unless you have the knowledge to investigate
more deeply in to this yourself.

Hi, I have a computer that when you plug in a flash drive in the USB,
it locks up the computer. Also on that same machine, if I do an
ActiveSync with my device, the computer restarts.
Do you think this is a WinXP to mobo problem or possibly the power
supply? Thank you for comments.
