I need to make a movie for my cousins wedding and the
movie will have only titles/credits/pictures and music
will be played in the backround.1) When I am finished the
movie, is it possible that I would be able to display the
movie on a large projector screen? If so, how is that
done? 2)I assume that it CAN be done on "Windows Movie
Maker" and if so,3) How do i get the photos(that I have)
on to the "Movie Maker" program? With a scanner? If I DO
use a scanner, does the scanner have to match the
computer I have?(I am borrowing a scanner).And lastly,4)
I am not sure if i have all the "SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS"
that the "Movie Maker requires.(I don't know a lot about
computers). So if you could please respond to me as soon
as you can(I have limited time) it would be GREATLY
appreciated. Here is some information(as much as I know)
upon my computer that I assume you might need.

-AST Vision 4L(monitor)
-JustLink 52x24x52x(motherboard)

Hello Kira,

1. Yes, absolutely! but make sure you pick a good publish profile for this,
you want to have a decent resolution setting because it is going to be
displayed so large. You will need to pick a high bitrate setting, something
like "High Quality Video" or the "2.1Mbps Local Playback" should do fine.
Are you going to playback from a DVD player? if so you will need a DVD
burner and authoring software, Sonic MyDVD 5 works great for this, you will
save your project out as a WMV file or DV-AVI (better) and import it into
Sonic. If you choose to display directly from the PC there are several ways
to do this. If you are very lucky you are using a high end PC with a DVI out
on the video card, if your projector has a DVI in your are in luck, all you
need to do is connect the two and set you machine to the correct resolution
and refresh rate for the projector (the project manual will have the
pertinent information). If not then you will need a video card with a
"tv-out" (ie. ATI all in wonder) in your machine, this card as an S-VIDEO
out, you need an S-video lead to connect to the S-VIDEO in on your
projector.

2. Yes. you can make movies with titles, background music, credits,
pictures, etc.

3. You should scan your images in forst (or better still take them with a
good digital camera and directly copy them to a directory on your machine)
then you import them into the Collection in MovieMaker. To do this just
click the file menu then click "Import into collections", then navigate to
your photos. Once they are in the collection you can add them to the
timeline. Most scanners out there will be fine, you will probably be using
one that needs a USB connection to your machine.

Your machine may be a little underpowered to show your movie completely
smoothly, I recommend the DVD approach. Also dont worry during editing if
the preview appears jerky, this will not manifest itself in the final
published presentation and will be a reflection of the computers processing
power.

Let me know if you need any more assistance.

Kira,

Your system seems fine to do it with Movie Maker... you might want to also
consider Photo Story www.photostory.papajohn.org

Just plug the scanner into your compute and try it - XP is pretty good about
recognizing and setting up hardware... once scanned and on your computer as
digital files, you'll import them into Movie Maker or Photo Story.

Test the process first so you're sure it all works well... use a couple
sample pictures and MM2 while you're waiting for the scanned ones.
