My 70 yr. old grandfather wants to purchase a PC w/Windows
XP. He's been told that 326 meg of RAM is best to run XP
versus 128 meg. Is this true? I thought 128 meg was fine.
It's for a very small business. I just want to make sure
he's not getting ripped off (buying something more than he
needs) - Thanks so much!

128MB is *not* fine; it's inadequate. How much he needs depends
on what apps he runs, but most people running a range of common
business apps need somewhere between 256 and 512MB for decent
performance.

Hi Carol,

I would agree with Ken. 128MB is a bare minimum for WindowsXP, and I would
expect very poor perfomance from it. I wouldn't use less than 256MB, and
would recommend that he get 512MB if available.
