Whenever I open any file from Explorer by double clicking
the system attempts to access the floppy A) drive before
open the file I want. I seem to remeber thare was a
similar problem to this in Win 3.11. Can anyone suggest a
solution please?

I am using XP Home - fully up to date!

Possible remedy: If there's a reference to the a: drive in the history for
Start>Run, clear it. On my system using Internet Options> General> Clear
History will clear browser history and the start menu's Run list. May want
to check Recent Documents for references directed to the a: drive too. If
any are found, delete them.

Thanks for the reponse. Unfortunately no luck in fixing
the problem having tried all your ideas. Wish I knew how
to handle the registry as I have found a suspect entry
which refers to the a: drive. Should I delete it?

If you want second opinions about the key from the folks here, post it.

If you want to experiment, export the registry key to a REG file. Then
delete it. Restart to see what the results are. If not happy with the
results, double click the REG file to merge the deleted information back
into the registry.

Tried your idea of exporting the suspects entries and it
worked. Many thanks for your help.
