System renamed my file, now it can't be deleted.

After Norton Anti-virus crashed trying to read a file
named "web.xml" in my Java dev environment, I ran the XP
utility to scan my hard drive for errors. The utility
found problems with the file system related to "web.xml"
and fixed them, but in the process it renamed it "web.xm|"
(That's a pipe character at the end.) I saw this happen
as I watched the disk scan utility's progress display.
Now any attempt to do anything in the directory
where "web.xm|" exists confuses the system. Any attempt
to do anything with that file fails (read, rename, delete).

Anybody know how to recover from a Microsoft-induced bad
file name? I just want to clear that sucker outta there.
