I performed a system recovery after my computer froze up
and now I am getting all kinds of error messages. I can't
open most of my programs. It tells me that the program
has encounter a problem and is shutting down. Here are
some of the other error messages: sgtray:could not open
pconfig, something about a parameter, and something about
the vendorprefs. I have no idea what to do. Please help!

Try the system file checker tool. Click start, run, and
type in this here; "sfc /scannow" with that space after
the sfc. It will ask for your XP CD to copy any needed
files from, and it runs as Windows file Protection. If you
don't have a XP CD, try to borrow one from someone. I
believe you can also run this in a command prompt window
as well. Also run disk cleanup and defragmenter tools on a
regular basis. Mayby re-boot to the safe mode menu, and
select; "last known good configuration".
