system recovery in windows xp home

After running the non format system recovery my old files were put into (my
old disc structure) when i open this file and go to my documents it stops me
opening it and says that it is pass word protected, and although i know my
old password it will not let me put it in. I have put the same password in to
the new recovery.Any help Please...Kind regards mike..........

You need to take ownership of the files. Here is a Knowledge Base
article about it:

Or just open XP's Help & Support and type in "take ownership".

That should solve the problem unless the files were *encrypted*. Let's
hope they weren't.
