System recovery help

Can I use my Compaq 5 cds System Recovery Windows Xp home, on another PC
also Windows Xp home, but not Compaq?

Hi,

No, they are specific to your Compaq machine and can only be used on the
hardware they are sold with.

His Pc was a mess, and I runed ad-adware, and it fund 500 critical objects,
I delete all, and problably one of the files (fogot its name) was used by
Windows, and now Windows dont start. Im in trouble. He doesnt have the
recovery cds.
What can I do?

Have him get the original Restore Disks from Compaq and/or take his
machine to a real computer repair person.

Try using the O.S CD if it is XP boot to the CD and use the Repair
Feature, Then do a chkdsk /f and a fixboot and fixmbr I had
the same problem not to long ago and this really helped.
 
"...and now Windows dont start" is very vague, and meaningless as a
diagnostic statement. Could you please be more specific as to what's going
on when the system boots.

On the information screen says : corrrupt or missing file is System32/config.
He doesnt have the recovery cds.
