System Recovery Disks

I'm considering buying a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed,
but it does not come with the system recovery disks. Is there any way of
creating such disks, such as creating a file/files, and burning them to CD
or DVD ?

I realize the files backup system file may be stored on the hard drive, but
given a recent problem with a trojan attack and the system not being able to
boot up, I'd feel more comfortable with the recovery disks.

Thanks in advance to all who respond.

Some, maybe most, manufacturers provide the capability of making restore
CDs/DVDs. Some even let you buy a set. Ask the manufacturer.

We can't read your mind and tell you what your unspecified manufacturer
does.

Probably has a hidden partition to go back to basic OS ; instead of
disks use external harddrive and backup software .

Actually, I vote for your idea over my remarks. It's more practical,
unless you like starting over from zero 8 months down the line :-)

Is there software that you would recommend that is relatively easy to use ?

Thanks for replying with respect to a neophyte poster.

Most pc's today have a way to burn recovery disks from the backup system
stored on the hard drive. Check to see if the one you are purchasing does.
Some places want to charge you to create them. Don't fall for that. You can
burn them yourself using the program that is on the pc.

The program being one like Nero, or are you referring to a utility within
Windows Vista ? Sorry, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed in this arena.

Thanks for the info.

The recovery is not within the operating system; it's in a separate hidden
partition on the hard drive. You invoke this process right at startup usually
by pressing one of the "F" keys. Read your owner's manual, it's usually
listed under "System Recovery" or words to the effect. The owner's manual
should also give instructions for making the recovery disk set from the
hidden partition.

The information I gave you was valid and useful, and the wisecrack about
mind reading was good advice about how to post.

If you can't handle it, the problem is yours...

It's too easy for yappy trolls like you to hide behind their screens, as you
are relatively safe in the online world. Out in the real world, I highly
doubt you would act like you do, as you might get your sorry ass kicked.
What you need is a lesson in tact, and another in constructive criticism.
Put a positive spin on it, and be a little more polite, perhaps by giving an
example of how to post to neophytes like myself.

Are you a non-learner? Just curious, since you have egregiously passed
up a couple of opportunities to learn at least a little.

Your replies to me have been *far* less polite than my post that
(needlessly) set you off and my explanatory reply to your first
complaint.

Note too that the people who helped you gave you the same advice I did,
but they could give more detailed help because you *did* let them know
what your equipment was - in, of all things, your response to my
suggestion.

Probably none of the above remarks will have any positive effect on you,
but at least I tried.

Anyway, at this point I have no further interest in your posts and I
have no intention of feeding you any more, my trollish friend. I'll just
stick to the posters who understand and appreciate attempts to help.
