I have just recently upgraded my computer hardware to a
athlon xp 2600 on a gigabyte mother board. After doing
this I re-installed windows xp, since doing this every
now and again the system will re-boot and when I go to
the event viewer and under system it says the "computer
has re-booted from a bug check ( followed by a series of
stop codes)A dump was saved in C:\windows\minidump\"

It is very frustrating and as usual there is nothing in
windows knowledge base.

If anyone has had this problem or knows a solution it
would be greatly appreciated.

Stop codes are:
0x000000c2(0x00000007,0x00000cd4,0x950ff685,0xf6e4a6d7)

I now also have problems with Win32 services error coming
up shutting down programs.

A C2 might be a driver issue. If you want to read about the causes of the C2
error and pointers to its resolution then you can look at this page in the
windows xp resource kit.

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/reskit/prmd_stp_czgw.asp

Make sure your system is setup to display the blue error screen, as if it is
a driver causing the problem, the name of the driver should get listed on
this screen.

contol panel/system/advanced/startup and recovery settings

Untick automatically restart.

In the meantime, check for unsigned drivers. Just because a driver is
unsigned doesn't necessarily mean its the cause, but obviously if it hasn't
been signed off by Microsoft, then its a possible suspect.

To do this

start/run
sigverif

What model gigabyte motherboard did you get. Have you checked the gigabyte
website for any bios or driver updates ?

Thanks for your help. I found this in the event log that corresponds to
one of the reboots: Savedump, eventID: 1001

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000008e
(0xc0000005, 0xbf87dd5c, 0xf2f29b9c, 0x00000000). A dump was saved in:
C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini110403-01.dmp.

How do I go about searching the microsoft site for information about this?

A 0x1000008e is the same as a 0x0000008e

Looks like a driver error, its not in the standard resource kit
documentation, I had to go to the driver developement site on msdn for it.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/ddtools/hh
/ddtools/bccodes_59k7.asp

We really need the name of the driver. Have you amended your settings to
disable automatically restart in

control panel/advanced/startup and recovery settings ?

The driver name is shown on the blue screen.

Thanks,
I inadvertently responded to the wrong thread, I meant to respond to a
reply you gave in the thread automagically rebooting. Sorry about any
confusion. (to top it off I resent this question to that thread when I
didn't see it posted there)
I have disabled auto restart on system error. I thought I had a
problem once since then but I may not have. I haven't had any blue screens
since then. I'll keep on the lookout for the driver name there.

Ah that explains a lot.
I was a bit confused when you joined the thread, but a lot of people seem to
have more than one name, I guess one at work, and another at home.
