I have 256MB but when viewing system properties it displays 224MB of RAM. I
have EWF enabled but to a disk partition and not RAM. Is there something I'm
unaware of that would cause the system to not recognize all of the available
RAM?

If your motherboard has on-board video the "missing" 32MB is likely
dedicated to video RAM. You can check the BIOS/CMOS settings to see how
much is being assigned to the video adapter, and if you don't need that
much you can probably reduce it.

Assuming you don't need to do any 3D graphics, 800 x 600 x 24-bit ("True
Color", often mistakenly called 32-bit) needs less than 2MB and 1024 x
768 x 24-bit needs less than 4MB. See
http://www.computerhope.com/help/video.htm#memory for a nice chart
showing how much video RAM is needed for various resolution and color
depth combinations.

I've yet to see a MB with integrated video that lets you set the video RAM
to less than 8mb.

I've seen some with settings as low as 1MB (Dell Optiplex GX280 & GX520,
for example) and commonly as low as 4MB. Certainly, it depends on the
chipset & BIOS so YMMV.
