Hi guys

I backup system partition to a network location. Then I restore it to a
slave disk on that network machine and try to boot. BSOD comes up for a
moment and then the computer reboots again.

Anybody had this kind of problem ?

Cheers,
Igor

_Where_ did you restore it? To a slave disk? And it was on the master disk
before?

Hi

Thanks for the reply
Yes, it was the primary master when backed up and restored to the secondary
master.
In fact I managed to boot the disk on the initial computer (P3 Celeron 1300
MHz). But it won't boot on P4 2400 MHz HTT. Does it mean WinXP installs
different kernels for different CPUs or what ? I thought it would complain
about hardware change but boot anyway. Any ideas/comments ?

Igor

So it's on a totally different computer now? If so, there's so much hardware
changes it won't work without at least a "Repair Installation".
Boot from your Win CD, select install etc.. etc.. but choose same
disk/partition/folder as the existing one. I goess it will ask if you want
to overwrite existing installation, YES. All hotfixes and updates have to be
reinstalled, too. By doing this, it will install all new drivers and so for
the new computer. Remember to also install the motherboard drivers so
peripherals have a chance to work.
