i have 1.5 gb but system only recognised 1gb. one is 1gb the other is 500mb both right size but only recognising 1gb. whys that?

Can you let us know your full system specs (i.e. Motherboard/RAM), as your PC should recognise the full 1.5GB normally.

Could be that the graphics is sharing the memory - but as Ian said we need more info

You've just installed a VGA card in your motherboard it could be that you need to chnage the bios settings to work on AGP and not onboard, but we need specs first.

The spec is:

AS Rock K7S41

2 MEMory modules - first one is 1gb and 2nd one is 512mb both 184 piv DDR2 . One is pc2700 other is I think slightly lower.

I recently installed XFX geforce 6200a agp 8x card too

Hi,

Your board has onboard VGA and there for I would recommend going into the BIOS. Set it up to work from your AGP card as it could still be set on the onboard card and that could be why the memory is not showing up right.

how do I find it in BIOS? I dont know what to choose.

According to device manager in control maanger there is only only graphics card under "display adapter" and that GEFORCE one and showing as enabled.

hi, managed to sort out graphics, there was no option for on-board it said PCI or AGP i selected agp as it was set on PCI. now i checked RAM, its saying in BIOS total physical memory, module 1 slot 1gb , module 2 0 (Zero), why could this be?
