I have been consistent getting the error message "system
is dangerously low in resources" when I attempt to close
excel 2000. The computer freezes and I have to restart.
The work that had been done in excel is saved. This
message does not occur with the operation or closing of
other Office programs or any other programs that I use.
Any suggestions?

Has anyone gotten you answers on this? The same thing is
happening to me and I haven't been able to find any
answers.....HELP!! Thanks.

Hi Kate,

Use Windows Explorer to search for all files on your hard drive with a
..XLB extension. Delete any that you find. Note that these may be a hidden
files, so you'll need to set Explorer to show hidden files before searching.

Excel uses these files to store information about toolbars, but they
frequently become corrupt and cause problems like this. Excel will create
new versions of the .XLB files it needs as soon as it starts up. Note that
you will lose any toolbar customizations that you might have made.
