System lock up at boot

In trying to add an additional new hardrive, got the
sequence wrong and now have a locked system. In
addition I have no boot disk fir xp and the win 98 disk
(from previous computer) does nothing. The original CD
for XP also does nothing. How do I get a boot disk for
XP?

above. It is for reloading the operating system. I
really don't want to do that if I can help it as I have
many hours of downloads keeping the system up to date
since I installed. Will I beable to use this to
restart, but not reload?
