System just turns off

I have an Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe mb with an Intel 3.2 with 2 gigs of Corsair
ram. I'm not overclocking the system at all. The cpu temp stays at a very
steady 30-33 degrees C and the mb temp around 29-32 degrees. The system
runs great, no blue screens or lockups.

I never turn the system off. After it's been up a day or so, it will just
shut off. I've never seen it actually do it while I'm working on it, just
sometimes I'll come in the room and the system will be shut down. It
doesn't reboot, it just shuts off. I'm running XP Pro. There's no one else
in the computer room so I know no one is purposely shutting it off.

What are some causes of this? The system is plugged into an APC battery
backup unit. When I leave it sit idle, usually there are no programs
running. The power scheme is set to Always On, and the the turn of monitor,
hd, and system standby is set to never. Hibernation support is off.

Any ideas of something to check would be appreciated.

What type of case, power supply are you using??

I have an Antek case, and a 400 watt power supply that was purchased
separately.

I never thought of checking the system logs, but I did, and there is nothing
out of the ordinary.

The power supply is a 400 watt "super cool", that cost around $100.00

Try removing one piece of hardware at a time and let it run for a day or
two.

Maybe their is a short between the motherboard and the case. Try isolating
the mb from the case.
