What happned to this, I personally wish I could still buy Giant Antispyware,
because the System Inoculation is a neat feature, which has been taken out,
please put these back!!

I don't know, and I don't think I've ever seen a clear description of what
the feature did, so that I could hazard a guess about why it was removed.

I don't think that it is likely to return, but these groups are the place to
ask for features in the product.

It blocked known spyware Active X controls I believe.

That's a good thing--but go ahead and use SpywareBlaster---it's really best
in breed for that kind of thing.

"We removed the Secure File Shredder and System
Inoculation tools because they were not essential, and
overlap in functionality with the Microsoft Baseline
Security Advisor tool," Paul Brian, the Director of
Product Management for the Security Business and
Technology Unit, AntiSpyware at Microsoft told me
recently. "We've also removed the cookie tracking
functionality because we're formulating how we want to
tackle that one."

Also:

Other Advanced Tools include System Inoculation, which
examines your PC for possible security holes (Figure);
Browser Hijack Restore, which helps restore features of
IE that have been hijacked by malware (Figure), Tracks
Eraser, which can be used to remove the history of your
activities in a surprisingly wide range of applications
and system services, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader,
Microsoft's Windows Common Dialog, the Google Toolbar
(Figure); and Secure File Shredder, a wonderful utility
that can be used to completely eliminate files from your
PC using US Department of Justice (DOJ) recommendations
for secure file destruction (Figure). How this product
doesn't have the word "suite" in its title is beyond me.

Both from

I think that Real-time Protection is replacing the System
Inoculation, since the feature stops any attempts at
modifying stuff. Also, they added 1 checkpoint to Real-
time Protection, as Giant AntiSpyware only had 58
checkpoints, and MSAS has 59.

Thanks very much, Alan--shows how much I remember from that review, which
I've cited any number of times, mostly early on in the beta.
