So I fix the system information problem that I was having by doing a repair.
I know why I was reluctant to do that now. I put in my XP CD and start the
process and about half way through I get this error:
This was in the title bar, UNREQMP2.EXE-Entry Point Not Found
This was in the error window, The procedure entry point GetIUMS could not be
located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL

So, I clean the CD very well and the error pops up again! I clean it again,
same error!
I try to cancel out of the set-up and it will not let me exit it at this
point.
It tells me: The file ASMS on CD is needed." All it does is loop through the
repair set-up continuously! I am unable to get out of the "repair" set-up!!

I come to the conclusion that my CD is a piece of **** even though I have
taken every precaution to make sure it does not get scratched etc. etc.(Will
MS replace this original CD??)

It is Sunday and having my computer down for more then a day is not an
option.

I basically have to go buy an XP upgrade CD to get my original install to
repair itself. A big fat bummer to say the least.

And to top it off, my boot up sound and shut down sound still do not work as
they did in the beginning of my original install.(January 14, 2004)

I give up on the sound issue. It is the only sound that will not work. I
have tried Kelly's script with no success as well.

--------White flag rises----------]

Why does a repair install wipe out about half of my "Critical Updates" as
well? Had to redownload them also!

Oh yes, now Outlook Express takes about 45 seconds to open when before it
was only about 2 seconds.

I swear, I hate Murphy's law.

Post if you have any input on anything here.

Thx,
WS

I've seen those error messages when doing a repair install with a pre-sp1 cd
on a machine where sp1 was installed later. If you keep whacking the ok
button, eventually the message vanishes. Then you'll need to apply sp1 after
the install or you'll get some other odd error messages.

There's also another way to get around the error message, but hitting the OK
button a billion times will suffice. Maybe someone else will post that other
fix for you.

While Googling, I found this.
When the problem occurs, press Shift +f10 to bring up the command prompt.
Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window and press enter. The task manager
should be started. If not, try to press C+Shift+Esc. In the Task Manager
program, select the error message window int eh application list and click
"end task." In the process list, terminate the "unregmp2.exe program. Exit
the DOS prompt window and resume the istallation process.

If only I was able to Google when this happened. I only have one computer
and it was not going to let me do anything but finish the repair!!!

Oh well, now I have another license I guess.

Good day
