Hello,
I have been having a problem with connecting to the
internet. I get message that it is unable to establish a
connection. (I'm on dial-up). Called Dell, they told me
that the problem is my system idle process. Said it
should not be at 98/99. This is wrong isn't it? Could
someone please explain this to me!
Thank you very much! Maggie

I won't comment on your telephone conversation because I wasn't there to
hear it.

Ordinarily, you expect your System Idle Process to be in the 98 to 99
percent rage.

Not sure where they're going with the idle process as
you don't have to be Idle to make a Internet Connection.
As long as your Proccessor isn't hung up on a process and
is 98/99.
Anyway I would call Your Internet Service Provider, (not
Dell) as they Should be the ones to help you get your
connection. They must have a number to call for help,
thats what they are there for

Maggie, your first mistake is you called Dell Tech Support. I'm incredibly surprised that they didn't tell you to re-install Windows, which is their solution to absolutely everything. 1) Contact your Internet Service Provider 2) use Windows Help files and search under setting up an internet connection, or networking, or something like tha

By the way...system idle process has absolutely, positively nothing to do with your particular problem and has very little to do with the price of tea in China. It is most likely your internet connection isn't configured properly!
