Hi everyone, since a few weeks I have been experiencing
troubles on my xp installation. For a reason I did not
find yet, my system hive is growing like crazy until it
reaches a 200M size and then XP will fails to boot. To
get it back on I have to restore a backup of the file. I
did not relate the behaviour to anything yet but I was
wondering I anyone had a similar issue and if it could be
related to MSAS.

Any thoughts?

please reboot into safe mode
logged in as administrator
and run a full AntiSpyware scan.

Empty your IE cache and your other temporary file folders,
eg: c:\temp, c:\windows\temp or C:\Documents and
Settings\<name>\Local Settings\Temp (the path to your temp
folder will change depending on your name) - sometimes
programmes can be hidden in there - watch out for
mysterious *.exe files or *.dll files in those folders.

Go to IE Tools, Internet Options, Temporary Internet Files
{Settings Button}, View Objects, Downloaded Program Files.
Check for unrecognised objects there.

Open Microsoft AntiSpyware, on the scan page choose Scan
options > Full System Scan (check the boxes below) >
click "Run Scan Now" ) scan with the latest signatures to
see if that helps.
It is also important to do a full virusscan with an
updated antivirusprogram in Safe Mode.

Apply the same principles with the following AntiSpyware
solutions in safe mode:

Spy Sweeper - www.webroot.com
Spybot - http://www.safer-networking.org/
CWShredder -

Ad-Aware - www.lavasoftusa.com
