When returning from standby mode on WindowsXP and trying to access internet,
system hangs. Cannot even close system through taskmaster w/o having to hold
power button down. Error message is as follows: hanging application
IEXPLORE.EXE, version 6.0.2900.2180, hang module hungapp, version 0.0.0.0,
hang address 0x00000000. Help needed ...

I've been having the same problem, long term. I hope that someone in here can
point us at a root cause of it.

I've had this problem for about two years and have gone so far as to format
my HD and replacing (clean install) WinXP Home Edition with WinXP
Professional Edition, then getting ALL of the updates and doing a clean
install of all my applications and their updates. The problem seems to be
something other than any of the stuff suggested at
<http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=b3f92927-f6e3-462a-badc-7ab1741a033c&SID=1485>, but I can't for the life of me see any reason.

While trying to isolate the problem, I've launched Task Manager and
Performance Monitor and Event Viewer before the problem started. While the
nearly system wides lock down is in process, I see NO unusual activity of any
kind in any of the monitors. System resources appear to be in a normal state,
not maxed out in any way.

I will gladly provide any and all additional information that anyone might
need in order to pinpoint the reason for this problem.
