system freezes

I have a Compaq Presario 5700N. The ystem freezes @ the log on screen. I
tried Repair, and the same thing happened. I even tried to run in safe mode
and it still won't start. Any suggestions please.

Can you provide any hint if its an hardware or software issue? E.g. if
the laptop is overheated, the processor goes on strike.
