System freezes

A previous install seemed to work fine but could not deal
with Kazaa+Altnet remnants. Now the scan runs until it
recognises Altnet browser plugin, whereupon Antispyware
freezes and the whole system slows to unuseable levels,
Task manager won't open and I have to reboot. Un/reinstall
didn't help. Anyone else experience this problem, any
suggestions?

- Download/Install CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com, removes all temporarily
junk

- Download/Install Lavasofts Adaware, also removes tracking cookies.

-Download Winsockfix, just a precaution if you loose your Internet
connection when removing spyware.

All scans then in safe mode, press F8 during reboot.

- Start CCleaner and remove all temporarily junk.

- Choose fullscan with all options checked within MSAS and scan.

- Also choose fullscan within Adaware and scan.

- Restart

Mine will freeze with the hour glass showing but no

activity, when I ask Antispyware to run a removal. Is
this the same?

I am having the exact same problem. I am running XP home
Ed.I also have Kazaa+altnet. I sure hope someone has a fix
for this.

SAME PROBLEM. Antispyware freeze while scaning registry
key: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Kazaa. Display Spyware found: KAZAA
UNDER INVESTIGATION. I ran (in safe mode) and got same
problem.
Also I ran in safe mode Registry Mechanic, RegCleaner, Ad-
AWARE and other Cleaners and didn't found anything. Try
to delete with REGEDIT the key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Kazaa and I
can´t. I got an error deleting the key. I am runing
Windows XP pro with Service Pack 2 original.

The key to your issue is your finding that you cannot delete the key
yourself.
Right-click the key, choose permiccions, click advanced, go to the Owner
tab, and take ownership of the key and all subcontainers and objects.
