Hi everybody. A few days ago, i started my computer, and
it said that a file that was neccesary was corrupt, and
to insert my windows xp disk. Like a fool i did, and i
followed the directions to reinstall my os. I then made
a second installation of XP Home, and my first
instalation, with all of my programs and settings, will
not boot. I tried in safe mode, and it hangs when it
starts to load the file [c:\windows\system32
\config\system], so i'm guessing something very seriously
wrong has happened. And when i try to laod the OS
normally, (i.e. not safe mode), it says the file
previously mentioned is missing or corrupt, and to try a
repair install. I think my first install is basically
fried, and there's probably nothing i can do about it.
But if anyone knows of a way to fix a corrupt system
file, please let me know. And if there's any way to
access files that i had on that install, i.e. my anti-
virus software that i downloaded instead of buying on a
cd. When i try to access files that were on my old
desktop, it says i don't have permission. If anybody
knows of any way to access those files it would be a
great help!

Thanks,

Ryan Gagnon
