I have two PC's .... I run frontpage 2002 to manage my web. I have decided
to move to the frontpage product to the other machine. I have installed
frontpage on the new machine, zipped up the web site from the old pc and
un-zipped it onto th enew pc - it has the same file structure but a different
user name.

I have checked that all hidden files in the tree structure have been
included in the new copy.

Every time I try to open a page on the new PC I get the error "System
Exception: Access Violation" and frontpage locks up. The only way out is to
use task manager and kill frontpage.

I have checked that all folders are read only..... I am able to open the
files using the browser on the new PC without any issues. Reports run ok,
other functions work as well but I am unable to edit the page.

There is nothing reported in the system log for the error.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE

You download FP Cleaner at http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm which
will do most of this for you.

Another thing you can try is to create a new site in FrontPage and then
Import all the files and folders from your old site into that one to make
sure nothing was corrupted.

Hi Steve - Thanks for your suggestions - I gave this a try but lost all the
site structure and still had the issue.

I think I have now solved it - Looks like one of the office updates fixed
it. I ran the office update service but did not spot some fixes failed - I
re-ran the update service a number of times and finally all fixes were
applied.

Hi David - Thanks for your suggestions - As this was a new clean PC I did not
follow the suggestions on clean up. I created a new site OK and created some
pages but when I imported the original index file I got the error.

I think I have now solved it - Looks like one of the office updates fixed
it. I ran the office update service but did not spot some fixes failed - I
re-ran the update service a number of times and finally all fixes were
applied.
