system error

i was downloading off the Internet when suddenly an error
happened my computer restarted itself. I thought it might
of been a virus but i scanned for worms and other viruses
but my protector did not find any thing. The error code
is 1003. If anyone can suggest what this problem is i
would be very grateful.
