System error?

Zakaria

Recently, my other computer crashed. I re-formatted the
drive and re-installed XP Pro. upgrade. Previously was
XP Home.

But everytime, I switched on the computer, the response
was "System Error. Insert XP CD in Rom drive". I did
that and I worked.

The annoying part is that I have to place the XPO CD in
Rom drive.

Somebody, please help this old man. 1,000 thanks

Zak

Try setting hard drive to first in line in the boot sequence in the system
BIOS. There is a message on an early screen in the boot process, usually
the first screen in which you are instructed to hit a specified key in order
to enter setup, do so. When inside, you will need to navigate until you
find the boot sequence, place the hard drive first in line and see if that
resolves the issue.

Note, if this resolves the issue, if you wish to do a clean install of XP in
the future, you will need to reset the boot order to allow the CD-ROM drive
to be first in line again for that purpose.
