For (2) weeks I have tried to get rid of this SYSTEM ERROR popup which reads
"Unable to open dialog". I have changed nothing on my computer. Just one day
this thing pops up in the middle of my screen and I close it with "OK" or
the "x" box and seconds later it pops up again. My computer runs fine. Even
the Internet connection is as it always has been. All of the new virus stuff
has been loaded and the disk is free and clean of any infections. Next, I
ran Dr. Watts and I can see some data which reads ------- Application
Exception Occurred - App: (ID=1336), When: 08/31/03 @12:27PM, Exception
Number: C0000005 (Access Violation). Please note - PID 1336 reads "POProxy".
Sometimes when I activate my "Internet Explorer" I am able to close down the
annoying "System Error" popup window permanently. But, not always. This
leads me to believe something has to be reconfigured in the "Internet
Explorer" configuration. I haven't got a clue here. They systems admin
person at my workplace said it my be my modem driver. He referenced
Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 228012 which deals with the PCTel V.90
K56 HEX PNP Modem stating that this hardware doesn't work with Windows 2000
Professional and the problem can be solved by obtaining an updated driver. I
am reluctant to do the update because my modem has worked OK since I
purchased the computer 3 years ago. My MS Hardware Wizard agrees. I don't
want to upgrade any further from Windows 2000 Professional because my design
application specific software my not function properly and it could cause me
more pain and loss of business. If anyone has a simple solution to this
problem I would be most grateful.

Thanks

All I can offer is that Google seems to indicate the "POProxy" is
part of Symantic A-V 2000. Perhaps that helps you with a place to
start from.
