Hi guys (and gals)

Got a bit of a problem here! My pc has been playing me up
for the last week,
and keeps retarting itslef for various reasons! Ive
formatted the drive 3
times in the last two days, and have installed virus
software etc, and it
seems to have sorted out the majority of my error
messages!

Although I'm still getting one!! Not sure if I can
attach the screen shot -
so I'll write it! The box randomly appears containing the
following
text..........

SYSTEM SHUTDOWN

This system is shutting down. Please save all work in
progress and log off.
Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was
initiated by NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
Time Before Shutdown - 00.01.00
Windows must now restart bewacuse the Remote Proceedure
Call (RPC) service
terminated unexpectedly

So there you have it - this message is the bane of my
life!!

Any help, tips etc will be sooooo gratfully accepted.

Many thanks, in advance.

And please - explain any answers in layman terms - I'm a
bus driver!! hee
hee

Thanks

RIch

No Tom, not caused by the blaster virus. I run symtecs
blaster virus finding tool about 5 times a day!! Just to
make sure. And the welchia virus finiding tool. So its
not the virus. Any more ideas?

How about you look in task manager for msblast when you
boot up your computer. Is there anything there out of the
ordinary?

Ive used all of Symtec's software to get rid of the blast
virus. And I did what you said - checking task manager
thingy - and no - the virus/msblast programme is not
running. A few peeps have suggested that it may be the
blast virus - but I have been checking for it about 5
times a day! lol. so dont think it is that. I have got
sygate firewall running in the hope that it will stop the
virus coming back - but I'm not sure how good that
firewall is

I have seen many replies to your problem so I will
suggest a different way of addressing your issue.
Go to the run command and type the following: msconfig

When the system configuration tool opens under
the "general" tab, choose "selective startup" and then
uncheck the "load startup items". Hit the apply button
and reboot.

This will only load required Windows system files when
your system reboots and exclude every other program that
you have installed on your PC. This will at least rule
out a Windows problem and point you to an installed
application that is causing this issue.

Good luck.
