I have a w2k pro Desktop and a w2k pro laptop connected
through a linksys router. Both have access to internet.
Both show up in each others 'computers near me'. The
desktop can access the laptop fine, however, the laptop
re'cvs a:
Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested
logon type at this computer.
MS knowledge Base article # 249918 refers to this but as a
w2k server problem. It suggests running usrmgr.exe to
change certain rights. niether of my machines finds this
program.
The laptop used to be a 'corporate' machine w/ netware,
intranet setups, dialup for replicating.....
I uninstalled &/or deleted everything I didn't need.
created my own new user w/ admin. rights. Everything else
seems to be fine.
Of possible consequence:
running ipconfig /all on both machines all looks in order,
the only difference being 'node type'. on the DT it
is 'broadcast' and on the LT it is 'hybrid' ???
suggestions, comments.
thanks
