: disconnect from the net unless and untill shutdown.. Also
: once system give the reference memory error message , no
: other application would run on the computer saying "
: Cannot open due to low memory". After a while i came to
: know about the blaster worm. I updated my Norton anti-
: virus ,,and immediately found WELSCHIA worm on my
computer.
: As per the information on the Net..I deleted DLLHOST.exe
: and SVCHOST.exe from wins folder under system32 folder.
: Also found MSBLAST.exe in the system and deleted it. Also
: deleted 2 Rpcpatch folders in the System registry.
:Then i tried to download the SP3 pack tp update the system
: so as to download the DCOM security patch. After
: downloading the pack when the pack was tryin to install,
: System gave a " SYSTEM ERROR WHILE INSTALING THE PACK". I
: shut the computer after waiting a while.
:
: Now whenever i start my computer i get error message for
: OFFICE setup. asking me to run the installation from the
: location it is downloaded. MSWord, EXCEL
: POWERpoint ...none of the application run on the computer

also : to install the SP3 and DCOM security pack to
prevent any : other system problems

Well, did you do this? It's very obvious what happened here. You deleted
system files, now the system needs to reinstall those files so that it will
work. You need the cd to do this. Also, not sure why you are talking
about SP3. The latest is SP4, that's what you should be installing. Then
you need the post-SP4 patches, specifically MS03-039 (824146).

It also sounds like you waited until after you had a virus to update your
Norton. That kinda defeats the purpose dontcha think? If you keep your pc
up to date with virus updates and patches, you won't have this sort of
problem again. Not trying to preach; however, it is irresponsible of you
NOT to do this if you are going to connect to the Internet.

I agree on ur raga that i waited to update the pc till i
suffered...this i would take as a learning lesson.
I would appreciate if u can tell me after installing sp4
which post server patches needs to be installed apart from
MS03-039
