Either your hard disk is marginal, or the dialog between
your hard disk controller and your hard disk does not
always function. Download & run the diagnostic program
that your hard disk manufacturer makes available on his
web site. If it gives the disk a clean bill of health then
it's probably your disk controller or the ribbon cable that
is causing the problem.

On a reformat of a fairly new computer - 2800 AthlonXP, Asus motherboard -
1Gig DDR Ram with 2 drives 1 - 120Gig, 2 - 40Gig. Twice while running the
system has shutdown and would not reboot, citing a "system disk boot
failure" where neither drive was recognized on "soft boots". I've been able
work around this through "hard boot" restarting and using "Go-Back" to go to
a past known configuration. As soon as I finish installing the rest of the
programs I'll ghost the C drive to D for protection.

Any ideas why this would be happening? It wasn't before the reformat.

Thanks,

Joe
