Hi there,
I have, I thought, a pretty standard two disk configuration. Disk 1 (master,
of course) has MBR, 2 partitions with partition 1 = system and "active" and
has Windows XP installed + NTDLR. Disk 2 (slave) has MBR (was main disk long
ago, but slow, so now used for backup) with 2 partitions, partition 1 =
"active", Windows not installed, no NTDLR present.
I would expect Disk 1 to be able to boot without Disk 2, but it does not:
"BOOT FAILURE, NTDLR missing" occured when I removed Disk 2 in preparation
of later replacement with crashed/ infected (?) disk from friend for test and
repair purposes.
What is going on here ? Does the startup somehow still depend on the MBR of
Disk 2 and startup continues with Disk 1 NTDLR and Disk 1 installed WIndows ?
How do I reconfigure Disk 1/2 as to enable my computer to startup and
function only with Disk 1 present ?
Erik
