System Design Guide?

There are many places in XPe documentation, MSDN, and posts from MS
personnel in this NG where one is referred to the "System Design Guide."
Where is it? Is this just a shorthand way of referring to the sum total of
the documentation? No searches or browsing I do turns up a System Design
Guide. One example is that system settings in TD includes "ARC" parameters
which I am unfamiliar with. The "more info" link refers to the System
Design Guide. I can neither find the System Design Guide nor any meaningful
info about ARC parameters anywhere. This is just one example because I am
not necessarily asking about ARC but rather how to avoid dead ends in the
documentation.

Hmm, seems the name of that node in the xpehelp.chm was changed. Instead of
"System Design Guide", open your xpehelp.chm and look under the node called
"Designing a Run-Time Image". (or you can access the help file from Target
Designer's by click through Help | Content.

It appears the sections under that node are exactly the same as the one
previously called "system design guide". This was probably changed from the
RTM version to the SP1 version or one of the subsequent Help Updates to make
the title more intuitive.

Hi Sam,

For ARC description you might look in MSDN at article:

Knowledge Base Articles
BOOT.INI and ARC Path Naming Conventions and Usage

Andy's right. We reorganized the System Design Guide to make it more
procedure-based. This was done several months ago. We went though MSDN to
root out all of the links to System Design Guide, but it appears that there
are still several out there we didn't catch. I will follow up and make sure
these are taken care of.

In the meantime, the doc content is still there, just renamed.

Thanks,
Dan
