I had a problem with malware on my PC. As a result I am trying to reformat
the hard drive to start anew. However my system keeps crashing when I am in
the middle of the reformatting process. It is always at a random spot in the
process. Is there any know way to fix this problem?

You are using the installation CD for this purpose, aren't you?
XP will not format the system drive (nor should it).

If you are booting from the CD and reformatting as part of the installation
process then it is likely you have a hardware problem. What exactly is it
doing? "Crashing" doesn't tell us much.

What I mean to say is that im trying to remove the old XP OS and reinstall
it. But during that process the system. And, yes, I am useing the
installation CD.

The whole system just turns off and any random spot in the formatting
process.

The drive could be faulty, go to the drive manufacturers web site and down
load the drive testing software.

Also open up the box and check for dust on the heatsinks and fans, it may be
overheating.
