During startup, the system configuration utility opens
up. How do I stop the system configuration utility from
opening up during startup? Its defaulted to Normal
mode. I have to select close, then exist without
restarting. If I choose restart, the same process begins
again with system configuration utility opening up again.
Thanks,
Mike

There should be a check box on it to say 'Dont show this again' and then
take the Exit

Hi Mike,

Yes, remove it and this does not warrant a reinstall. If you are worried,
export the key before deleting it. See if your problem goes away. The
reason the edit didn't help because it stops at msconfig.

Good luck!

Kelly,
First I install line 173 Repair Registry Editor (left
colum. I then realize that the Selective Startup Screen
was in the right colum and installed that. I ran the
automated edit and that didn't seem to fix my problem.
The system configuration utility screen still appears. I
did a manual edit and didn't see the MSConfig file but
saw a MSConfigReminder file in the Run folder. Should
the MSConfigReminder file be removed to fix my problem.

I was thinking of reinstall WindowsXP, would that fix my
problem? If yes, would I have problems with reinstalling
XP?

Thanks,
Mike
