I want to assemble a new computer
Parts I purchased are :-

Motherboard Asus a8n-e
CPU AMD 3500+ venice core
Video card Asus Extreme 660gt 256mb Sli ready
Memory 1gb stick 3200
PSU tried 450w with 20 to 24 pin converter
Problem is it won't boot up to bios 1 long 2 short bleep
Although video card is sli ready, is it ok for this board ?
or will i have to get a Sli board or non-Sli video card ?
Any other suggestions or info i might give ?

A long and two short beeps indicates a problem with the graphics card.

Maybe it just isn't seated in the socket properly. The card ought to be fine
with the board.

(I see that the PCI-E version of the 6600GT doesn't use an additional power
connector, so it's not that.)

Is there a reason you're using a single channel memory configuration? I
expect that the board supports it, although the DIMM must be in a specific
socket, if it's like my old A8V Deluxe.

Good luck.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.

Just an update -
I bought a non sli PCI-E graphics board, it was a lower config one just to
try out and it works ok ...
The SLI card i have, seated fairly loose in the slot so it looks asthough it
is designed for a SLI motherboard.
SLI graphics cards for SLI motherboards !!

When using one dimm module install into B1 slot only
When using two dimm modules install into A1+B1slots
