Can anyone help me? Everytime I start my pc I get the
message system voltage is low please run set up. I also
notice that the date and time is incorrect and I have to
change it manually. I have asked for a quote to fix this
problem and I have been quoted #500 which is too much for
me!

Hi,

Can you please post the exact error message.
It may be caused by a dodgy power supply or by a dead
battery on your motherboard.

Either way the problem should not cost as much as you were
quoted.

Try running Windows in Safe mode (Press F8 several times
before the Windows screen appears after a reboot). If you
do not get this error message then it must be due to a
piece of software.

Generally, Windows XP will not comment about voltages and
the like. Are you running some sort of motherboard
monetoring utility in your system tray ?

Have you checked your event logs (Start>Run>Eventvwr) for
more details on the error ?

Don't let someone rip you off and tell you this will cost
loads to fix. The fix could be as simple as a software
patch or replacement of your power supply unit (PSU).

Good luck !

Regards,

Tim

Hello

I've read that when your system clock constantly loses
time, the battery on the motherboard is being to die. I
believe you can buy another one and replace the one on
the motherboard, but read the motherboard's instruction
manual before you follow any of this.
