I have noticed that each day a disk intensive program runs on my PC for
quite sometime.

It does not show up when I look at the task manager.

I am surmising that this is the System Restore checkpoint program. I have
checked the Restore application and it looks like it does this
"checkpointing" every day.

Is there a way to specify how often a "Restore" checkpoint is run?

Every day seems a bit much.

I am running XP/Home on a PIII

Thanks

Hi

24 hours is the default setting for creating System Restore Points and can only be changed with a manual edit of the Registry. The Points are normally created when the PC is idle. How long is 'quite sometime' and have you definitely determined that it is System Restore causing your disk to work?

This happens every day. Its 8:30AM and the disk is cranking away right now.

I don't know if its System Restore I was just guessing because the restore
points show for every day.

Is there any way to see whats running besides ctrl-alt-del?

I FOUND IT.

Its running Defrag. I have Diskeeper and it was set up to run every day
automatically.

Have changed and fixed it.

Thanks

Use the option to run Diskeeper while the screensaver is on.
