Hello NG,

How do system restore determined when to have the system check point. I
notice that it made on irregular time interval. Is it possible to configure
it to make system checkpoint at specified schedule e.g every 1:00 PM
everyday?

TIA

Hi

SR creates a restore point every 24 hours. If the PC is turned off for more than 24 hours, SR creates a new point when the PC is turned back on again. The 24 hour period can be altered via the Registry, but AFAIK, there is no option to schedule SR to create a new point at a specific time. Having said that it 'may' be possible to schedule SR via Scheduled Tasks.

Hi Doug

Would the RPGlobalInterval Registry key have to be set to 0(zero) - disabled - if your file is used? Otherwise a System Checkpoint is still going to be created every 24 hours or does the file automatically disable that key?

No, the file doesn't disable any System Restore features. It just creates a
Restore point with a known name (Automatic Restore Point) on the Calendar,
with the time it was created. And System Restore doesn't automatically
create a restore point every 24 hours. The interval varies based on what's
been done (program installs/removals, updates and etc.) Mine typically run
every 22 hours, if I don't do anything else to the system. So, if I
manually created a Restore point with my utility, at 10:30 this morning, and
don't do anything else that would trigger a new restore point, I could
expect one tomorrow morning at 8:30. But if I'm using the computer, it
won't trigger, until I leave it alone long enough.
