Hiya mate,

Start Menu - Control Panel - Backup and Restore Centre - Backup files

It will look for devices it can backup to, just choose whether its a different HDD or onto CD or DVD.

Hope this helps.

You may have 2 options (depending on your Vista version) : "Back up Files" and "Back up Computer" - the latter will backup everything so you can do a complete restore if required :)

When you first set up your computer, you should create a Windows Complete PC Backup image, which is like taking a snapshot of the programs, system settings, and files on your computer. You can use the backup if your computer ever stops working. Although this type of backup includes your personal files, we recommend that you back up your files regularly using the Back Up Files wizard. You should also update the Windows Complete PC Backup image every six months.

Windows Complete PC Backup and Restore is not included with Windows Vista Home Basic or Windows Vista Home Premium.

If you have a Seagate or Maxtor hard drive, you can try the free Diskwizard software:

Hi,

Yeah it is but it should have two options (as seen in link), one for files and one for complete which includes the O/S.

After reading it it says to do a file backup first then you get the option to do a complete backup afterwards.

Seems a little strange, but will look into it further.

Edit: Just seen Ian's post.
