Some malware probably did that unless you used a program such as SpyBot to
"immunize" for computer IE settings. I would suggest that you download the
newewst version 1.3 of SpyBot Search and Destroy onto your computer but be
careful as it asks you durung the install if you want to protect IE settings
and if you want to immunize the computer which you do NOT want to do during
the installation. After installing it, scan for parasites and review the
list to remove what you want. You then can go to the "mode" menu and select
advcnced which will allow you to access advanced tools such as IE tweaks
where you can select to lock or unlock IE control panel, lock your start
page, and change your hosts file to read only. The links below may be
