On restoring from Hibernation this window opens every time, even though I
have
'not' had it open prior to the machines going into hibernation.

Can/will someone please inform me on how to stop this window from opening?

Thanks for your assist.

I found nothing in
Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Value: ActiveMovie File Extensions
Value Type: REG_SZ
Value Data: ActMovie.exe /Check

That looked like the above values.

Is there any chance that TweakUi may have caused this? I just loaded it this
morning.

Not sure what to look for though. 8^(

That other site recommended should have helped.

Oldun,
As hesitant as I am about offering any advice , it's been six hours since
you last posted,------ so , since you just downloaded Tweak UI this morning,
and only just began having this problem, and since Tweak UI is simple to
get------ You could remove it , in control panel>Add/Remove Programs , and
then REBOOT . That is probably the safest method.
Then see if that resolves your problem. You can always download Tweak UI
again, anytime in the future.
It may be that there is a setting in Tweak UI that contributed to or caused
the problem , though I've never heard of it doing anything like that. I've
had it on my machine several months and as far as I know it has caused no
problems whatever. But , as you know , anything is possible.
You might also take another look at the first answer to your question and
check to see if you missed something that he recommended, such as ---looking
on the right side of that number he mentioned for the answer to your
problem.
If all else fails, re-post again tomorrow with the same question in a
different string or on another MS newsgroup, before doing anything you
aren't sure about.
Sorry to be so long winded and hope this helps.

mad Max,
Retried the line 260 again as you suggested. It did a FIX this time. Not
sure why I screwed up the first try.
Oh well, at 74 things seem to get turned about at times.

My most sincere thanks to you for your continued assist.

"New problem" below.
New Dell machine (3 days old now) when opening Internet Express, the 'Home'
page is Google and
going to: Tools / Internet Options / Use Current Address does 'not' work.
Am plagued with the Google home page. Dell needs a poke on the nose for this
one.

Can you advise? I did post in the Internet Explorer group but no one
replied.

Again, many thinks kind sir.

Oldun,
You have indeed fallen upon hard times. I am probably the most inept
computer user in the USA, and am just a kid, at 65years.
Giving advice about computers is something I should never attempt.
That said, I'll just ask a couple of questions, about what you have already
done.

1) When you made the changes to a new Home Page , were you at the site that
you want as your new Home Page ? If not , that is where you must be for the
change to take effect.

2) Then , go to Tools>Internet Options. Click on " Use Current Address ",
just as you did previously. But there is something else you must do for the
change to take effect.

3) Click on " Apply " and then on " OK". Failing to click on Apply must be
done in order for the change to take effect.
I cant tell you how many times I have failed to do that step.

And that my friend is about the total extent of my computer knowledge. I
really hope you manage to get some help from someone who knows more than how
to turn that machine on.
If I give any more advice about computers, someone should shoot me.

Many Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oldun,
It just dawned on me that you must be logged on as the computers
"Administrator " and not just as a " User " , in order to make these type
changes. However, after additional thought , you probably are.
If not , go to your " welcome " screen and log on as "Administrator", before
attempting to make changes. That might already be obvious to you , but not
always to me. Just trying to cover all bases.
