I have XP home, and at start-up, the system 32 folder pops up. I have tried to figure out why this happens and have thus far failed. Not a big deal, but a daily nuisance. Anyone know how to stop this?

Check:

Do you have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card?

System32 Folder Opens When Logging on to Windows

More information:
Usually caused by an error in one of the Registry keys that control what program
are launched at start-up.
The registry keys are:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Each named value in the above two registry keys is a program that is launched at
start-up; where the value data has the command which is to be executed. When the
command is blank (or contains just a character in double quotation marks) the
missing information may cause Windows Explorer to display the System32 folder at
start-up.
Click Start, Run and then type: regedit
Locate one of the registry keys mentioned above. Examine each value in the
right-hand pane.
If the value data is blank, contains only single quotation marks, or appears to
be corrupted, delete the value.
Repeat the process for the other registry key.
Restart your computer to see if the problem has been rectified.

Note you can save the registry key first by:
On the File menu, click Export.
In the File name box, type SaveKey, and then click Save.
Or create a system restore point prior to editing.
