I am making significant changes of hardware in my W2K.
To get the PnP to reset itself, I understand that it is
recommended to use SysPrep tool before making a clone of
my C drive OS, which will be moved to a new master HDD.
I want the PnP of W2K to be reset so that the old,
persistent PnP is no longer there and upon rebooting the
sys. will find the new hardward and reconfigure it's PnP
locations for the devices.
I just read that "Sysprep should not be used to prepare
the operating system for imaging if the computer has
software installed that is dependent on the computer's
Security IDs (SIDs)."
Many of my programs depend on the SID.
What do I do then, to have W2k reset its PnP function to
its orignal, pre-persistent state, so it will pick up the
new hardware/devices in the order and configuration I want?
