I used sysprep for the first time a couple of days ago.
Then I Ghosted an image and tried the image, but it
BSOD'ed so I did more research and tried it again.
I built a sysprep.inf file (noticed this file is almost
identical to unattend.txt) with all sorts of chipset and
controller PNP info. Also included were timezone,
fullname, orgname, etc.
I copied the entire i386 folder to the C: drive, this
time. I copied sysprep.exe, sysprep.inf, setupcl.exe, and
pnpids.exe into the i386 folder.
I ran "sysprep -pnp" and grabbed a new Ghost image. The
only thing that didn't work when rebooting was the info in
sysprep.inf seems to be ignored. I had to answer all the
questions which I'd hoped would be handed to setup
automatically.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I may have done wrong?
Does sysprep not work directly from the i386 folder?
After-the-fact, I noticed a stock unattend.txt file in
i386, but that sample info also wasn't invoked.
How do I turn this feature on so that an image will get
created that allows the sysprep.inf info to be
incorporated into the setup and save me multiple halts and
questioning?

You almost got it 100% right.

You need to create a folder c:\sysprep.
copy Sysprep.exe, Setupcl.exe, and sysprep.inf (if wanted) to the
SysPrep folder.

I also found the help file pretty useful.

You can also run the Setupmgr.exe util that does a lot of the work for you.

Aya!
Didn't realyze the SYSPREP folder name was so significant.
Also never heard of the use of setupmgr.exe until now. I'm
stumbling along in the right direction.
Thanks! Saved me tons of time.

You're welcome.

Just curious?
Where did you get the sysprep from? The W2K Resource Kit?

MS has a (newer) version 1.1 of sysprep out. I'm sure you can download
it from their site.
