Hello all,

I have the exact same problem as described for KB883667 (http://
support.microsoft.com/kb/883667), as where during an installation of a
Sysprep image, WinXP hangs during the monitor/graphic card
installation. The mouse cursor is present but no responding; the
whole machine is frozen. A simple reboot fixes the issue and the
sysprep carries on.

The only difference is I'm using XP SP3 (VLK) and the suggested
hotfixes for this problem do not apply as they are supposed to be
already integrated in SP3.

Any help appreciated
Cheers

You getting this on machines that were previously working fine on an
older image? We've seen (intermitantly) the same thing since recently
knocking up our patching level on our base image, we haven't gone sp3
but have used most of the patches that are components of it. Be nice to
isolate the culprit and knock it on the head.

Hi Thierry,

We had the exact same issue with our new DELL E4300 and E6400 machines.

After unplugging the network and power cable, rebooting the machine the
issue was gone.

Hope this will solve the issue for you aswell.

Regards,

Mark
