I was wondering if anyone else encountered problems with Sigmatel's audio
driver in the D620 laptops. After the laptop is reimaged all drivers load
fine except one that shows up as "Unknown PCI Device" with the following
Hardware Id:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_27D8&SUBSYS_01C21028&REV_01

which is an Intel driver. If I try to update the driver Windows doesn't
recognize the .inf file I have as valid. If I then manually run the audio
driver setup.exe program it gets rid of the "unknown device" icon,
and installs the audio component as:

HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_8384&DEV_7690&SUBSYS_102801C2&REV_1022

AND it then (and only then) finds the modem as

Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus
Conexant HDA D110
HDAUDIO\FUNC_02&VEN_14F1&DEV_28FA&SUBSYS_14F100C3&REV_0900

I have the right drivers for the HDAUDIO devices under my sysprep drivers.
I have no idea why it starts your by finding the hardware as 8086/27D8 to
begin with... Anyone had success in loading these drivers under sysprep?

Thanks in advance,
Marcelo Flores

I have my universal image working fine with my D620s.

Make sure that:

Your DevicePath statement in the registry is not > 2048 characters

You do not have any OEM*.INF files in C:\windows\inf

Double-check your sysprep.inf and make sure the path statements are
correct.

For your reference, this is what my driver path looks like:

Thanks for your input.

I was using the drivers from a 620.cab file I had downloaded from Dell a
few weeks ago. When I saw your directory list and saw that it differed
from mine I went ahead and downloaded the new drivers. It worked like a
charm.

Thanks again for your help.

which drivers did you use, the only ones I found looked like the same
ones. Running setup found the high definition audio and then the
modem drivers.

How about *you* explaining in detail?

The above is all I see from you right off. It looks like a response to a
different post and I am unsure if that posts reflects what you want or
not...

So, please elaborate.

HD drivers usually requires the UAA driver from Microsoft prior for
the device to correctly detect their drivers:
