While scanning my system recently, NAV2003 identified a file,
syshook.dll, which is part of the Avant Browser (v8.02.107) program
installation, as PWS.Hooker.Trojan. Does anyone know if this is a known
false alarm?

Thanks for any input!

Very odd. I am also running Avant 8.02.107 on my W98SE box, and there is no
such file as syshook.dll anywhere on it - and certainly not in the Avant
Browser folder in Program Files.

Very odd indeed! I installed the program on my personal computer, after
downloading it by visiting the author's site, choosing the primary
link, which, if I remember correctly, sent me to CNET's download.com.
The same thing happened (inclusion of the file) when I visited the site
from another location (work) and installed Avant on another computer.

Interestingly enough, NAV did not "burp" when the installation was in
progress. Both computers have NAV installed, though different versions.
However, in both cases the file was identified as infected when an
on-demand scan wwas performed. I'm just not sure if it's a false
positive.

Thanks for your input!
